This is my very first blog post. I’m excited!

My name is Emily Curtis, and I’m a writer.

I’ve considered myself a writer since high school. But to be truthful, I’m not always writing for pleasure. And that’s okay. Things change. You get busy, and you forget. And writers block is way too real.

However, as an author of two self-published poetry books, I know first-hand what it takes to write, edit, self-publish, and get your name out there.

I have received my Undergrad degree Writing, Literature, and Publishing major and Marketing minor at Emerson College. I also received my Master’s degree in Writing and Publishing from Emerson College.

But I’ll admit I am not a perfect writer–I’m far from it. This used to intimidate the hell out of me. But it is important to not let that anxiety stop you.

If you consider yourself a writer and are looking for the inspiration and motivation to do what you love so much, this blog is for you.

I’ll be posting tips, prompts, and some of my favorite inspiration for writing, whether this be other authors and works, life experiences, such as travel, and more.

I’ll also be talking about how to self-publish and promote your writing! I’ll highlight some key factors for becoming a known self-published author. Marketing yourself is just as important–if not more so–than what you write.

On top of my experiences with self-publishing, I’ll be writing about some my experiences in college, such as studying abroad for a semester!

So, if you’re a writer, want to learn more about self-publishing, or are just bored and have nothing else to read, follow along with my blog!
